Mikael Karlsson is the chairman of the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (SSNC), a non-profit and politically independent environmental organization with power to bring about change. The organisation has approximately 192 000 members and has local clubs and county associations across the country, driven by love of nature.
Michael works at the Division of Environmental and Energy Systems, at Karlstad University, where his research deals with complex environmental risks. He has also taught and worked with environmental issues in East Africa, the Baltics and Southeast Asia.
In 2010 Mikael Karlsson was re-elected as chairman of the largest environmental organization cooperative in Europe, EEB (European Environmental Bureau) in Brussels.
