Martin Arfalk is the founder of the urban design and landscape architecture firm Mandaworks in Malmö, Sweden. Mandaworks is driven by a conceptual approach that offers a critical understanding of the underlying nature of each project and its opportunities. The company combines a process of analytical mapping with a willingness to develop design qualities through creative explorations.
Martin holds a degree in art science from Stockholm University and a master in landscape architecture from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Malmö, Sweden.
He has an international background with design experience in both the Netherlands and Denmark. Before Mandaworks, Martin worked as a designer for the internationally renowned design firms, Bureau B + B in Amsterdam and Karres en Brands in Hilversum. Martin’s professional experience has allowed him to work on a number of multi-disciplinary teams as well as given him a unique insight into a variety of design and planning conversations in Europe.
Through his professional experiences, Martin has been an invited guest teacher at the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands, and today, Martin lectures on a regular basis at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Malmö and the school of architecture in Lund. Beside his work at Mandaworks, Martin currently runs the advanced design studio, Sustainable Urban Dynamics, within the master’s program of Sustainable Urban Design at the school of architecture in Lund.
