MARC ALT | cities, design
Marc Alt is a design leader who has dedicated his career to connecting design, technology and ecology. An advocate of open innovation, he has launched numerous projects, conferences and organizations focused on advancing sustainable design principles and collaboration across industries. He is currently founder and editor of Open Source Cities, an idea marketplace for the future of cities, and co-founder of the High Desert Workshop, a creative offsite based on ancestral knowledge and deep ecology.
Marc was founder and co-chair of the AIGA Center for Sustainable Design and has served on the advisory boards of the Designers Accord, Opportunity Green, Green Leaders Global, and Terreform1. He is is a faculty member of the School of Visual Arts Products of Design MFA program and was previously Adjunct Professor at theNYU MFA Interactive Telecommunications Program. He is an advisor to companies such as BMW, MINI USA, Ogilvy Earth, and Neenah Paper and is actively involved in a number of urban mobility and smart cities initiatives. He lectures internationally and presents workshops on living systems, resiliency, clean technology and ecological design.
